Restorative and General Dentistry
My goal is to create lifelong Oral Harmony for each of my patients. This means giving you the best dentistry possible. I pay close attention to many oral and overall health issues that too many dentists ignore. I pride myself on thoroughness.
In addition to General Dentistry, my office specializes in Restorative Dentistry. These services include prosthetics, crowns, bridges, dentures, maxillofacial reconstruction, implants and cosmetic dentistry.
We also treat T.M.D. (better known as T.M.J. Syndrome), clenching and grinding, Snoring and Sleep Apnea.
We strive to create consistent, reliable, durable, painless dentistry for everyone. We also provide information and maintenance for clean, healthy, vital teeth.
Our state-of-the-art office features a full range of services designed for healthy care of the teeth and mouth. Through the latest in modern technology and highly-skilled lab technicians, every day we put more than thirty years of experience to work.
General Dental Services
• Hygiene and Maintenance
It’s important for you to see us at least twice a year—even if you have perfectly healthy teeth. This is to prevent problems from developing, and to treat developing problems as early as possible. Twice yearly visits will help maintain a healthy, attractive smile.
To maintain Oral Harmony, it’s important to practice good oral cleaning habits daily. We all know we should brush and floss after every meal, but are we doing it correctly?
Be sure you have your teeth, gums, and mouth checked every six months. Preventative dentistry is the most cost-effective way to achieve and maintain Oral Harmony—and also the most painless.
• Whitening
With modern technology, you can have a whiter and brighter smile, and the work happens while you sleep. Light-cured techniques, which we provide in the office, are also effective. Many factors add to tooth discoloration—juices, tea, coffee, cigarettes, or even excessive natural pigmentation. We can safely and effectively treat all whitening issues.
• Laminates
Laminates, also called “veneers”, are custom-made shells for your teeth designed to look completely natural. Laminates can resolve several dental problems—such as small gaps between teeth, permanently stained or discolored teeth, poorly-shaped teeth, or misaligned teeth. Laminates can subtly create a noticeable difference in your smile.
• Crowns
Also known as a “cap”, a crown covers the entire tooth. Crowns may be constructed out of porcelain. Crowns are a permanent treatment for a damaged tooth.
• Replacing Missing Teeth
This is one of our most important services. If a front tooth is lost, most people call me right away, but the less obvious back teeth also require immediate attention. Any missing tooth that isn’t replaced can lead to serious dental problems. The empty space can cause four main issues —unbalanced bite, chewing stress, decay and gum disease, and tooth movement that can dramatically impact facial appearance.
• Bridges
Also known as a “fixed partial denture”, a bridge is a permanent structure used to replace one or more missing teeth. If a fixed bridge isn’t practical, we can create removable bridges. In either case, the missing tooth is replaced and attached to neighboring teeth for support.
• Implants
Thanks to new implant techniques, a lost tooth can now be permanently and fully replaced without harming your remaining teeth or gum tissue. With this technology, a bit of time and patience, we can restore a smile with a natural look and bite.
• Dentures
The technology to create comfortable, natural-looking dentures has progressed dramatically. However, this process shouldn’t be delayed if necessary. Delay risks deteriorating the supporting bone, causing sore and tender surfaces.
TIANA HAKIMI, D.D.S.
I’m pleased to welcome Tiana Hakimi, D.D.S. as the newest member of my team. My daughter is a graduate of the N.Y.U. College of Dentistry and has completed a general practice residency program at Queens Hospital Center. Dr. Tiana Hakimi is trained in the most up-to-date dental protocols and state-of-the-art technology. She is fully equipped to diagnose and treat a wide range of dental issues—much like her dad. I look forward to working with the other “Dr. Hakimi” for many years.
